The Full Story
The Calypso Girls extended their unbeaten start to four matches with a 61–32 win over Canada on 23 October at the Netball World Cup Americas qualifier in Barbados. World Netball’s official schedule now records the result. Trinidad and Tobago had already beaten Grenada 61–45, St Vincent and the Grenadines 73–41 and the United States 43–38 on that schedule. The Canada result strengthens the team’s position but does not itself clinch one of the two invitations to the 2027 World Cup. Three matches remain in the official list, including fixtures against St Lucia, the British Virgin Islands and host Barbados; results from the other teams also affect the final table.

World Netball dates the eight-team qualifier from 19 to 26 October and states that the top two sides will be invited to the 2027 World Cup in Sydney. Before the Canada match, Guardian reporting focused on the narrow 43–38 United States win and the tests still to come. The wider sequence matters more than an unbeaten label: a single close game did not decide the table, and four opening wins still leave qualification dependent on later results.

The Guardian’s match account says Maikea Bramble scored 55 goals from 58 attempts against Canada, while Kalifa McCollin added six from six. Those individual shooting figures come from the newspaper; the 61–32 final score and fixture date are also on World Netball’s official results page. The official record shows the margins across the first four matches varied widely, from five goals against the United States to 32 against St Vincent and the Grenadines. That variation is useful context, but margins alone do not explain tactics, injuries or the strength of the remaining opponents.

World Netball lists St Lucia next for 24 October, followed by the British Virgin Islands on 25 October and Barbados on 26 October. The match against the hosts may be especially important for the final standings, but it would be premature to call it a deciding game before the intervening fixtures and other results are known. Readers checking this report later should follow the organiser’s updated scores rather than treat these future fixtures as results. The invitation rule is clear; the teams receiving those places are not yet settled on the evidence checked here.

The Sunday paper reports another result in the same qualifying campaign: Trinidad and Tobago beat St Lucia 62–35 on 24 October. World Netball’s official schedule confirms the score and the fifth win in five matches. The Guardian credits Samantha Wallace-Joseph with 37 goals from 39 attempts and Kalifa McCollin with 19 from 21. That shooting detail comes from the match report; it should not be mistaken for a final tournament standing or proof that qualification is already secured.
