Trinidad and Tobago’s Shantel Seemungal was named the best midcourt player at the 2027 Netball World Cup Americas qualifier, the Guardian’s 28 October print edition reports. The Full Story

The Calypso Girls entered the closing match of the Americas qualifier already assured of one of the two World Cup places. They beat host Barbados 60–51 on 26 October, completed seven wins from seven matches and finished first in the regional standings. That result was reported by Luk It Hyah on 27 October.

The Guardian’s 28 October print edition adds an individual honour: Shantel Seemungal, who appeared in every Trinidad and Tobago match, received the tournament’s Best Midcourt award. The award recognises her contribution across the qualifying campaign, rather than a separate match result. The online Guardian report provides the final score and standings, while the print account identifies the award.

The regional event also recognised other players: the Guardian named Zalika Clarke of the United States as Best Defence and Mary-Ann Frederick of St Vincent and the Grenadines as Most Valuable Player. Maikea Bramble’s shooting percentage was also among the leading figures reported. These awards sit alongside the larger result: Trinidad and Tobago and St Vincent and the Grenadines secured the two Americas places for Sydney in 2027. Seemungal’s selection is a documented individual achievement within that qualifying run, not a forecast of World Cup performance.
