The Full Story

The Global Environment Facility’s record for project 11086 lists a US$4,854,128 grant and approval for implementation on 10 December 2024. CNC3’s report published on 4 November says the initiative was introduced at a workshop on 22 October at the Hilton Trinidad and Conference Centre. It describes a four-year programme to develop a national net-zero and nature-positive strategy, an energy-transition roadmap and financing and investment strategies.

The reported programme includes stronger climate and biodiversity data systems, assessments of social and economic effects, and coordination through technical working groups. It also envisages sustainable-mobility and energy-transition demonstration investments in Trinidad and a nature-positive ecotourism initiative in Tobago. These are proposed activities; the report does not establish completed investments, emissions reductions or new regulations already in force. The detailed project agreement and implementation timetable were not obtained in this review.
