The Short

CNC3 reports that Leading Mechanic Kris Cox’s remains have been brought home after his death during a dry-docking assignment in Colombia. It quotes a Coast Guard tribute but does not establish a final cause of death.

The Full Story

A Defence Force announcement on 12 October said a Coast Guard sailor had died in Colombia while supporting the refit and upgrade of a vessel, according to CNC3. The newspaper says that announcement described natural causes as preliminary information requiring further review and confirmation.

In its report published on 1 November, CNC3 identifies the sailor as Leading Mechanic Kris Cox and says his remains have returned to Trinidad and Tobago. It quotes a Coast Guard Facebook tribute receiving his body and honouring his service.

The return of his remains is distinct from a final finding about how he died. CNC3 does not report that the earlier review has concluded or provide a confirmed medical cause. Its account gives no funeral arrangements.
