The Short

The Ministry of Homeland Security says two adults were arrested in Point Fortin on Wednesday as part of an investigation into alleged child trafficking and sexual exploitation. Its 4 November release says investigations are continuing; it announces no charges against the two newly arrested people.

The Full Story

The Ministry of Homeland Security says Operation KEY-UN-LUX followed charges brought against a man on 2 October in an investigation into alleged child trafficking and sexual exploitation. Those earlier charges concern a different person from the two adults whose arrests were announced on Wednesday. Charges are allegations, not findings of guilt.

In a release dated Wednesday 4 November, the ministry says the Counter Trafficking Unit and partner agencies conducted an early-morning operation in Point Fortin and arrested a woman and a man. It describes the operation as targeting additional suspects identified during the investigation.

The ministry says three other adult women found at the premises were screened on site. None was identified as a trafficking victim during that screening, and all three were handed to Immigration Division Enforcement for further processing. That account does not establish a criminal allegation against them.
