TTPS says officers went to a residence at Naggee Road, Hindustan, at about 10:15 a.m. on Sunday 1 November. It alleges that a man with a cutlass ignored commands to drop it and advanced towards officers, who shot him. The force says he was taken to hospital and later pronounced dead.

The statement gives the police account of the encounter; it does not establish the lawfulness of the shooting or an independent finding about the man’s actions. TTPS says the incident was reported to the relevant investigative authorities and enquiries remain ongoing.
