At a special sitting on 27 October, Chief Justice Ronnie Boodoosingh described Moosai’s versatility across civil and criminal courts. Attorney General John Jeremie drew attention to his interpretation of freedom-of-information law, which bears on public access to information. The Guardian also reported tributes to the patience and care associated with his judgments.

Moosai told the sitting that appellate judgments can shape later cases and should be written with that wider responsibility in mind. The event marked his retirement and the conclusion of 29 years of judicial service; it did not announce a successor.
