The Short

The Met Office’s green-level hot-spell discontinuation notice lists a 1.21 p.m. start on Saturday. That time has now passed; the service still expects warm conditions in November.

The Full Story

The earlier yellow hot-spell alert covered Trinidad and Tobago from 24 September and listed an end of 4 p.m. on 31 October. It warned of periods of sustained high daytime temperatures during the final months of the heat season.

The Met Office has now posted a green-level discontinuation notice. Its updated issuance is dated 31 October at 8.34 a.m. The service says cloud and rainfall have reduced maximum temperatures and that sustained hot-spell conditions have become less likely.

The green notice lists a start of 1.21 p.m. on Saturday 31 October and an end of 4 p.m. When this report first appeared in the morning, that start was still ahead. A check after 2 p.m. found the same discontinuation notice, now within its stated effective period. The older yellow notice remained displayed alongside it.

The service still expects warm temperatures in November and forecasts cooler conditions in December. Ending the hot-spell alert does not mean that warm weather or every other weather hazard has ended. Its notice advises continuing measures to reduce the effects of warm conditions.
