The Short

Its statement, published by TTT, anticipates better access to surgery; it does not give measured changes in waiting times.

On Wednesday 28 October, the authority reported nine operating theatres in use at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, two at Mt Hope Women’s Hospital and four at Arima General Hospital. Two endoscopy rooms and two cardiac catheterisation laboratories were also operating at EWMSC; those rooms are separate from the 15-theatre total.
In the statement carried by TTT on 29 October, NCRHA chairman Dr Tim Gopeesingh credited clinical teams and support staff for the work. The authority reported more than 23,000 surgeries over the preceding year and said greater capacity should improve access and waiting periods. It supplied no before-and-after waiting-time figures.
