The Full Story

Officers intercepted a Nissan Tiida near Patience Hill on Wednesday 28 October, according to the police account published by the Guardian the following morning. The man driving it, identified in the report as Hasani Bobb, was shot during the encounter.

Senior Superintendent Rodhil Kirk said Bobb pointed a firearm at officers and did not obey instructions to put it down. Kirk said officers fired because they feared for their lives. That is the police explanation for the use of force, rather than an independent finding about the shooting.

Bobb was taken to Scarborough General Hospital, where he died. Kirk said two firearms were recovered, including one police said had been stolen from an officer in a Pigeon Point robbery the previous week. The Guardian reported that police were investigating the incident.

In a later Guardian Media report carried by CNC3 on 29 October, Bobb’s mother rejected the claim that he would have pointed a gun at police. His aunt called for officers to wear body cameras, and relatives said they intended to report the shooting to the Police Complaints Authority. The report does not establish that a complaint has been filed or whether a recording exists. Police maintain that Bobb pointed a firearm and that two weapons were recovered. The family’s response and the police account remain distinct; neither supplies an independent reconstruction.
