The Full Story

Outstanding PowerGen wage negotiations for the 2016–2017 and 2018–2020 bargaining periods have been resolved through bilateral talks with the Oilfields Workers’ Trade Union, Public Utilities Minister Barry Padarath told the House of Representatives on Friday 30 October, according to TTT News.

The Minister put the settlement at TT$66.1 million and described a cumulative nine per cent wage increase across five years, affecting approximately 150 eligible workers. He said outstanding payments were scheduled to be made by 15 December 2026.

Padarath contrasted the negotiated outcome with litigation and criticised the previous administration’s handling of the dispute. Those are his political assessments. The report establishes his announcement and stated payment timetable; Luk It Hyah has not obtained the signed agreement or evidence that the payments have been completed.
