The Full Story

Trinidad and Tobago’s boys’ under-15 team travelled to Baku, Azerbaijan, for FIFA’s first Under-15 World Cup and Festival. The Guardian lists St Kitts and Nevis as its opening Group S opponent on 24 October, followed by Iraq, the Cayman Islands, Egypt and Macau. Coach Randolph Boyce is leading the squad. FIFA says the wider event runs from 24 to 30 October and includes 189 member associations.

The festival is built around shorter, eight-a-side matches with two 20-minute halves. FIFA presents it as a development opportunity rather than a conventional single-winner senior tournament. Its official information says 78 associations are making a World Cup debut and that the games can be watched through FIFA+ on DAZN. The Guardian reports that a girls’ edition is planned for 2027. Several participation figures in earlier announcements differ from the latest FIFA count, so the current 189-team figure is attributed to FIFA’s 23 October notice.

The Guardian’s schedule gives Trinidad and Tobago two further matches on 25 October and two on 26 October. It identifies the participating squad, but because the players are minors this account does not reproduce a roster of children or create personal profiles. The paper’s body refers in one place to an October 31 finish, while FIFA’s newer event page and viewing notice both give October 30. We use FIFA’s current event dates and leave match kick-off times to the official fixture service, where they can be checked in local time before viewing.

In the next group games, Trinidad and Tobago lost 2–1 to Iraq and beat the Cayman Islands 7–0, the Guardian reported on 26 October. Jaylon Carrington scored against Iraq, and Jiair Nanton scored twice against the Cayman Islands. Egypt and Macau remained on the group schedule at that point.

The Guardian reported on 27 October that the team then lost 4–1 to Egypt and beat Macau 4–0, finishing its group with three wins and two losses and advancing to Tier 2. Coach Randolph Boyce praised the results but said injuries and conditioning remained concerns. Advancement to Tier 2 is the next stage of the festival, not an overall title.

The Guardian’s 29 October report says Trinidad and Tobago then lost 4–2 to France and 3–2 to India on Wednesday 28 October. Jaylon Carrington scored twice against France and once against India; Djoshua Cyrus also scored in the India match. The report describes these games as Tier C, whereas the earlier account used Tier 2. The later description is recorded here without assuming the labels are interchangeable.

The Guardian’s next match report says T&T lost 4–1 to Namibia on Thursday 29 October, with captain Aaden Jones scoring. The team then beat Liberia 2–1 through goals from Jones and Jaden Marcelle. The newspaper describes the latter as a classification semi-final for places 93–96 and lists Gibraltar as the final opponent for 93rd place. These results follow the earlier defeats by France and India. The listed final fixture is a planned match, not an established final placing.

On Friday 30 October, the Gibraltar Chronicle reported that Gibraltar beat Trinidad and Tobago 2–1 in their final classification match. This follows T&T’s win over Liberia the previous day. The result is attributed to the newspaper’s match report; Luk It Hyah has not obtained FIFA’s official result sheet. The Chronicle also says the final rankings have not yet been officially confirmed, so the earlier description of a match for 93rd place is not treated here as proof of T&T’s final placing.
