UWI and CARPHA Renew Five-Year Research Partnership

By the Luk It Hyah newsdesk · Sources · Reporting disclaimer

The Short

UWI says it renewed a five-year agreement with CARPHA at a 22 October ceremony in St Augustine. The announcement outlines wider public-health research and training cooperation, with implementation to be overseen jointly.

The Full Story

A UWI release issued on 4 November places the signing on 22 October, rather than on the announcement date. It says the renewal expands the institutions’ previous agreement signed in February 2019.

Planned cooperation covers surveillance, disease prevention, emergency readiness, environmental health, food safety and medicines quality. The partners also identify digital skills, artificial intelligence education and health policy as areas for collaboration.

UWI says a joint panel will monitor progress and develop activities. The agreement provides a framework; the release does not establish that every proposed programme is funded or operating, or demonstrate improved patient outcomes. A separate 103FM report carries the same agreement account and is not independent evidence of implementation.
