We corrected an unsupported personal-best inference and reconciled two athletes’ name spellings using an organiser’s public record and TV6’s race report. The reported race times are unchanged.

The Full Story

The UWI-SPEC International Half Marathon took place in St Augustine on Sunday. The Guardian reports that Ekesa finished ahead of Tafari Waldron, who clocked 1:10:32, with Donnell Francis third in 1:11:58. Ekesa’s winning time was slower than the 1:08:33 reported for his previous victory. That comparison establishes a slower winning time, but does not by itself establish his career personal best.

John won the women’s race in 1:30:54. April Francis placed second in 1:36:22 and Celine Lestrade third in 1:39:50. Last year’s champion Aniqah Bailey did not start, leaving a new winner this year. The newspaper supplies the leading finishers and times; a complete official result sheet would be needed for age-category placements and any later corrections to the results.

Correction and source check, 30 October: the earlier comparison with Ekesa’s previous winning time did not justify our conclusion about his career personal best. That inference has been removed. We also reconciled Alexia John and Donnell Francis against Bafasports’ public organiser record and TV6’s contemporary race page and transcript. These support the names used here; the complete official UWI result sheet remains outstanding.
