The Full Story
Keacy Carty will lead a 15-player West Indies A one-day squad, while Alick Athanaze captains a 13-player T20 squad for eight matches against England A. Cricket West Indies lists three T20s from 1 to 4 November and five one-day matches from 7 to 16 November in St Kitts and Nevis. The 26 October Guardian also carried the selections, but CWI’s own announcement supplies the roster and dates directly.

CWI frames the one-day games as preparation for the men’s 2027 World Cup qualifying campaign, scheduled to begin in February. The T20 matches serve a longer selection path towards 2028. Several players appear in both squads, including Athanaze, Jewel Andrew and Vitel Lawes. Rivaldo Clarke enters the one-day group after Kevin Wickham’s senior Test call-up, while Mikyle Louis joins as a development attachment rather than a member of the named match squad.

Ottis Gibson will coach the side with batting and spin specialists Rohan Nurse and Nikita Miller. Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe says performances in these matches will inform selections. That makes the series more than a set of fixtures, but a squad announcement does not guarantee any player a senior-team place. CWI’s published schedule identifies the grounds and dates for each match; readers should recheck it before travelling because fixtures can change.

The opening match took place at Conaree Sports Club on Sunday 1 November. Cricket West Indies records West Indies A at 98 all out in 19.4 overs and England Lions at 101 for two in 10.1 overs, an eight-wicket win. The Guardian’s match report also describes a four-wicket bowling spell and an unbeaten half-century for England; those individual figures were not independently checked against a ball-by-ball scorecard. The result puts England ahead after the first T20, but does not determine the series. The next match was then scheduled for Tuesday 3 November.
